Privacy Policy
Effective October 8, 2026
This website uses standard analytics and advertising cookies to count visits and measure whether my ads work. Beyond that, information only reaches me when you book a call or work with me. I never sell it.
Who I am
Games Writers Play is a program of Acts of Writing LLC, a Georgia limited liability company, 8735 Dunwoody Place, Ste N, Atlanta, GA 30350. I’m responsible for the information described here. For anything about your data, email [email protected].
This website
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare briefly logs basic technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. I don’t use those logs to identify you. Fonts and images are served from the site itself, so apart from the analytics and ad tools described below, your browser contacts no one else.
Links to Substack, LinkedIn and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
Cookies, analytics and ads
I use Google Analytics and PostHog to see how many people visit and which pages they read. I use the Meta Pixel to measure whether my ads lead to bookings. These tools set cookies and receive details such as your IP address, device, browser, the pages you visit and the ad you came from. Their providers may combine this with other information they hold about you, under their own privacy policies.
If you’re in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, these cookies stay off until you agree through the banner on the site. Elsewhere, they’re on by default. Wherever you are, you can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or block cookies in your browser.
Google Analytics keeps this data for 2 months and PostHog for 12 months. Meta keeps pixel data under its own policy.
The services that receive your information
| Service | What it receives | When |
|---|---|---|
| TidyCal | Your name, email, time zone and answers to the booking questions | When you book the free call |
| Google Workspace | Emails, drafts and documents you send me; calendar invitations; Google Meet calls and their recordings, stored in my Google Drive | From the free call onward |
| Inkless | Your name, email and signature | When you sign the agreement |
| Stripe | Your name, email and billing details. Stripe handles your card itself; I never see the full number | When you pay by card or Klarna |
| Klarna | The details Klarna needs to offer you installments, possibly including a credit check. Klarna acts under its own privacy policy | When you choose Klarna at checkout |
| Mercury | Your name and the details on the bank transfer | When you pay by bank transfer |
Each of these services processes data under its own security and privacy terms. Your project itself (your premise, characters, plot, drafts and anything else covered by our confidentiality clause) stays between us and is never shared with anyone. Your contact and billing details go only to the services listed above and to my accountant and legal advisers, who are bound by confidentiality, or where the law requires it.
AI tools
I don’t put your material into AI tools. The one exception is an AI note-taker or transcription tool on our calls, currently Gemini in Google Meet, and only if you agree in writing first. If you do, I’ll tell you which tool and what it keeps.
How long I keep things
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Booking details, if we don’t go on to work together | 12 months after the call |
| Recordings, drafts, notes and emails from an engagement | 12 months after our last session |
| Agreements, invoices and payment records | 7 years, for tax and accounting |
You can ask me to delete client material sooner at any time. Agreements and financial records are the exception, because the law requires me to keep them.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask to see the information I hold about you, get a copy of it, correct it, or have it deleted. Email me and I’ll respond within 30 days.
If you’re in the EU or the UK
I rely on these legal grounds for using your information:
- Contract: to book, deliver and invoice the work you’ve agreed to.
- Consent: for analytics and advertising cookies, session recordings and any AI note-taker. You can withdraw consent for future sessions at any time.
- Legal obligation: to keep financial records.
- Legitimate interests: to run the website securely and reply to your messages.
Your information is stored and processed in the United States by the services listed above. They protect transfers out of the EU and UK with recognised safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
You also have the right to object to or restrict how I use your information, and to complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK that’s the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children
My services are for people aged 18 and over. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new effective date. If you’re a current client and the change affects you, I’ll email you.
